Vitamins, these are vital, Part 12 , Vitamin K

Vitamine was the term coined by Casimir Funk, a Polish Biochemist, (1884-1967) for the unidentified substances present in food which could prevent the diseases scurvy, beriberi, and pellagra. This is the pioneer work in the study of vitamins in which Funk reviews his research work and postulates his theory of the existence of vitamines, essential factors in the diet.  We continue our series on the Vitamins.   Part 12  Vitamin K.

At Age 70, Jan Scott, one of our long time Hi-Lo members recently competed in the Regional Arthur Murray Summer Showcase and finished 2nd in the overall competition for her age group, competing against dancers from San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas. She participated in the Rhythm and Smooth Categories and is shown with her instructor David Castro.  She has been taking classes for about 18 months and credits much of her performance to her Hi-Lo Strength training which has not only kept her slim and trim but allows her to "get down" with style.   in Aug 2004 she was working out at the Concord and saw the
CBS 48 Hours Special featuring Barbara Walters and Leslie Stahl doing Hi-Lo.  When she heard about us she came over the same day and signed up!  Jan was featured in The Wendy Rigby KENS5 Coverage of Inside Outside  in Jun 2004 and was the Hi-Lo Star of the Month for September 2004!
