Collagen and Elastin are the support systems of the skin. Collagen, which acts as the structural support, and Elastin, which gives our skin its elasticity, are starting to decline in the human body by the mid 30’s due to the aging process, sun damage, stress and smoking. When this happens, our skin becomes dehydrated and less supple and fine lines and some sagging begins to appear. If you have had Dr. Christian's Signature Diamond Microdermabrasion, you know that long term skin care is doing everything you can to protect, preserve, stimulate and renew Collagen and hopefully some Elastin in our skin.
Skin Care Products such as Sun Protection (Physical Fusion or Sheer Physical SPF 50) and Antioxidants (Phloretin CF or CE Ferrulic) protect and preserve Collagen and Elastin. Vitamin C (SkinCeuticals) , Retinols (Glotherapeutics), Retinoids (Refissa or Tretinoin) and Growth Factor Products (Neocutis and Regenica) will stimulate Collagen and Elastin when used regularly and are important for long term results. In addition, many of our clients are using the Home Dermaroller
on a weekly basis to improve absorption of these products.
The Rejuvapen system is a procedure to maximally stimulate our skin to make new Collagen and Elastin without the need of fractionated CO2 or Erbium Lasers. Micro Fractional Collagen Induction Therapy, or CIT, utilizes 9 precisely spaced micro needles in a small cartridge, controlled by a high speed 2500-4500RPM pen like device, to create thousands of vertical micro perforations .2 to 2.5mm in the epidermis and the top layer of the dermis. The skin then activates it's natural repair mechanism and starts producing new Collagen. The self repairing property of the skin is a 100% natural form of skin rejuvenation from the inside out. The needles produce an inflammatory response which releases growth factors which stimulate Collagen formation. These tiny channels also allow products applied to the surface to penetrate deeper into the skin to promote new Collagen. The effect is thicker dermal and epidermal tissue with improvement of fine lines, more even color and tighter pores. Any area of the body can be treated but the face, neck and hands are the most common.
The depth of these micro perforations can easily be adjusted for various areas to penetrate to the exact level desired.
In this image the depth is set at a little over .6mm which penetrates slightly into the dermis.
A free consultation with Dr. Christian is done to determine if a series of Rejuvapen Facials should be done first or if we should proceed directly to a deeper Rejuvapen Medical Treatment. The purpose of the Rejuvapen Facials would be to prime the skin with products such as the Regenica Growth Factors, Vitamin C and Retinols so that the best results would be obtained when the Rejuvapen Medical Treatment is done. A series of before and after high resolution digital pictures will be taken. Topical Anesthetic is then applied over the face for 20minutes to reduce pain from the tiny perforations if a Rejuvapen Medical Treatment is planned. After the Topical Anesthetic, the treatment itself takes about 30-40min to complete. We will use the Regenica Repair Complex MRCx™ Growth Factors during the procedure to get penetration of powerful Fetal Stem Cell Fibroblast Growth factors. The skin is red and a little tender after the procedure and will clear fully in approximately 2 to 4 days. The feeling and appearance mimics a sunburn. The procedure can be repeated in 3-4 weeks if needed. Most clients will require 2-4 treatments to achieve the desired results on fine lines. Even after a single Facial Needling or Medical Treatment, most clients will notice and feel that their skin is healthier, firmer, smoother and brighter. Best results for fine lines and wrinkles and better skin health and appearance will be obtained from the procedure by using a skin product protocol consisting of Fetal Stem Cell Growth Factors, Vitamin C (SkinCeuticals) and one of the Retinols (GloTherapeutics) or Prescription Retinoids on a daily basis after the Procedure and to prime the skin for
better results after future procedures.
